Baby
Toothless smile becomes you, my child
And dribble perfects babble into words.
Wobbly, but feet try the new walk.
Keep sucking that soft finger – sweet?
New skills pile on to memory,
As you step forward, man of tomorrow.
Amma dreams of nurturing your body
Appa sees you, master of all.
Baby steps steady, you gain confidence.
Little hands clap when you master another skill.
Charming smile turns to love,
And your winning looks ravish the world.
Eyes spark sweet mischief as you tug and pull,
To disarrange neat décor, O how endearing!
Your clothes trail behind, but tiny feet toddle on,
Sands drop off your infant body
After rolling in the white sand.
Suddenly hungry, you throw away the held object
And turn around to look for Amma!

All the features that God and nature imbue the toddler with, to make them endear to the coldest heart have been masterfully written down in this poem as only a mother could.
